The Milbank M401-UG is a 4-terminal, ring-type meter socket with an integrated main breaker, built for underground cable entry service. Electricians use a meter socket with main like this as the primary metering and service disconnect point for a residential or light commercial service. It includes one 400 ampere main circuit breaker with a 22,000 amp interrupting capacity, a plain top hub/closing plate, and a single mechanical terminal with a 1/2 inch stud on the line side. It is built from G90 galvanized steel with a powder-coat finish and glass polyester insulation, has factory knockouts, and includes a 2-barrel ground lug for equipment grounding. Load side wire range runs from 3/0 AWG to 300 kcmil, and it is rated for 120/240 volts alternating current, single phase, at 60 hertz, with a single meter position and one branch circuit. The enclosure measures 5.93 inches deep, 24.88 inches wide, and 38 inches high, is UL Listed, and carries a NEMA Type 3R rating for outdoor use, following EUSERC drawing #302A.
